WEek 10 - Charcoal & White Chalk

Instructions

1. Commence drawing on your choice of light grey or mid-gray paper

2. Place the paper of your choice in the front of your open book.

3. If you use the rough side do not smudge the paper. If you use the smooth side you can smudge the paper.

4. You can do several pictures from several different images if you wish.

5. If you do more than one image you could also use your neutral pad or craft pad as well as your contes.

6. Use contrast, depth of field, perspective, composition and tonal values to support the outcome of this picture.

7. Watch the demo closely, read the additional Extended Notes

Note - Only use charcoal and white chalk for first picture.

WEek 10 - Pastels

Instructions

1. Work from  dark pastels to light pastels.

2. Hold pastels up to still life to compare colour options and blends of various pastel combinations.

3. Skate with your pastels to create the curves and flowing directional tones and lines required using kneadable rubber to break them where necessary.

4. Create a rich and vibrant image on warm or cool pastel paper on the smooth side.

5. Finally use your lightest colours to finish the picture.

6. Use contrast, depth of field, perspective, composition and tonal values to support the outcome of this picture.

WEek 10 - Oils

Instructions

1. Select your colour charts.

2. Mix your selection of colour from the charts.

3. Prepare a colour from your colour charts for the under-colour of your painting in acrylics. Use oils if you do not have acrylics and give your picture time to dry.

4. Try not to make your wildflowers picture too evenly spaced or organized. Nature's way of self-organizing is not garden like.

5. Try not to make your flowers too photographic. Keep them impressionist/expressionist and painterly.

6. Use contrast, depth of field, perspective, composition and tonal values to support the outcome of this picture.
