ABOUT US
For more than 25 years, Lavender Art Studios has been helping children, teenagers and adults discover the joy of creativity.
Founded in 1999 by artist and educator Greg Devenny-Mackay, Lavender Art Studios has grown from a small teaching practice into one of Canberra's most respected and enduring art schools.
Over the decades, thousands of students have walked through our doors, developing not only technical artistic skills but confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of creativity.

Our classes combine strong technical foundations with individual encouragement, ensuring every student is challenged at their own level and supported in their creative journey.
Whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time or preparing a portfolio for further study, Lavender Art Studios is a place to learn, create and belong.
Today, Lavender Art Studios is proudly a family business.
In 2019, Greg's daughter Abbey returned to Canberra after living and working in New York City and joined the studio as Assistant Director, helping to shape the next chapter of Lavender Art Studios while preserving the values and teaching philosophy that have made it such a trusted part of the Canberra community.
What sets Lavender Art Studios apart is our belief that art education is about far more than learning to draw or paint. We have built a warm, welcoming and inclusive creative community where students of all ages are encouraged to experiment, take risks, build friendships and develop their own artistic voice.
Over the years, our students have gone on to study art professionally, establish successful creative careers, exhibit their work publicly and receive recognition in prestigious competitions, including nominations for the Young Archie Prize.
While we are incredibly pleased by these achievements, we are equally joyous of the thousands of students who continue to create simply because they love it.
